Sunderland Antique lustre Gauntlet Clipper Ship Plaque
0/107
A Sunderland pottery lustre Plaque of the Gauntlet Clipper Ship. Probably made by Scott of Newcastle having purchased the transfer plate from Dixon at Garrison Pottery in 1865. It is unusually slim which fits with the Scott factory and relatively rare.
The Gauntlet Clipper was launched on the River Clyde and considered to be most perfect Clipper ship ever launched on the Clyde. It was built of iron and had 5 water tight compartments and traded from the UK with Australia and India.
